It was fun, lighthearted for the most part, it had a fun meet-cute and great family dynamics (if you ignore both her parents and his biological dad). There’s also a pet chicken involved and while I loved the scenes with Chick-Chick, I feel like she took over a lot of the story.
Written exclusively from Avery’s perspective, The Last Encore is not only a love story between Avery and Josh, but it’s also a love story to the city of Toronto.
Gimme all of the romances with fat heroines, because I will gobble them up hungrily. And it’s even more special when a fat woman is writing the story, because you can feel the love and attention they put into the character. Mary brings Hannah to life so wonderfully and you root for her from the moment she appears on the page.
Meisha Gladney’s debut is a fun new adult story about going on the journey to finding yourself and letting music guide the way. While it is a romance, it’s important to know that the romance is secondary, this story is about Danielle’s discovery of herself.
This might be one of my favourite debuts of the year. Victoria Wilder has written such a brilliant story, one that sucked me in and held me in its tight grip till I finished it. Once I started, I forced myself to slow down so I could fully enjoy this story, because it’s so fantastic.
Lauren Searson-Patrick’s debut is a stunning one. The world building, the character histories and all of the wonderful magic that is spread across this book captivated me from the moment I picked it up.
First of all, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that this is Hannah’s debut. Because this book is not only heartwarming and joyful, it’s so well written. I read it in two sittings (on the same day), because once I started, the story flowed so beautifully, I couldn’t bring myself to put it down.
I don’t know if I’ve said it before, but 2022 is turning out to be such an amazing year for debuts. Julia Connors’ second chance sports romance is a fantastic debut and one that I am so glad I got to read early! It was an angsty slow burn, with lots of things that I love about romance all rolled into one.
This was such an interesting book and I commend Gillian Libby on a fun debut. It’s got a combination of a lot of things I love about a romance and while I honestly thought this would be a women’s fiction sort of story, it had some steamy bits that really took me in the opposite direction. It’s got great friendships, a charming hero, a beautiful beach location and loads of surfing.
Beauty in the Details takes place in Nantucket, a part of the world I’ve only ever seen in pictures and I’ve always been fascinated by. So to spend time there through this book was a treat.
