This might be one of my favourite debuts of the year. Victoria Wilder has written such a brilliant story, one that sucked me in and held me in its tight grip till I finished it. Once I started, I forced myself to slow down so I could fully enjoy this story, because it’s so fantastic.
A fellow 2022 debut author, Kate’s first book Light in the Dark was a fun, suspenseful and sexy read. She’s also entertaining with her regular Meme Monday posts as well as reels she posts about her coffee drinking habits and her books.
Every time I discover another 2022 Debut author, I get really excited. So when I saw someone sharing the cover and blurb for Shannon’s book, I had to get my hands on it.
Meeting Hannah was totally by chance, thanks to a friend who read and loved her debut, Next of Kin. And when I accepted an early copy of the book, I didn’t know what to expect. The wonderful storytelling, the heartfelt emotions and the unique characters that stood out on every page were absolutely brilliant.
First of all, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that this is Hannah’s debut. Because this book is not only heartwarming and joyful, it’s so well written. I read it in two sittings (on the same day), because once I started, the story flowed so beautifully, I couldn’t bring myself to put it down.
I don’t know if I’ve said it before, but 2022 is turning out to be such an amazing year for debuts. Julia Connors’ second chance sports romance is a fantastic debut and one that I am so glad I got to read early! It was an angsty slow burn, with lots of things that I love about romance all rolled into one.
Beauty in the Details takes place in Nantucket, a part of the world I’ve only ever seen in pictures and I’ve always been fascinated by. So to spend time there through this book was a treat.
