Twelve years ago, Jules Savoie ended her relationship with the vampire overlord of New Orleans, Ruben Dubois. For good reasons. A woman in power must often make sacrifices to protect others. She knows the truth of it down to her aching heart.

When Ruben watches his best friend Devraj get married, a stinging realization hits him hard…he’s done waiting. They say time heals all wounds. In this case, it merely sharpened the pain and made one fact crystal clear. Jules Savoie is his soulmate, and nothing would keep him from her. Not anymore.

Forced to work side by side to fight for the werewolf cause, they campaign together at covens from New Orleans to London. The reignited spark burns hotter than ever before. But when a power-hungry vampire sets his predatory sights on Jules, will their love be strong enough against black magic? Or will he lose her again? And this time, maybe…for good.

We have only waited for Jules and Ruben’s story for like ever and Juliette Cross did not disappoint when she delivered this one. Through the first four books, we’ve seen these two characters moving around each other like animals waiting for the moment to attack, but to really and fully understand the extent of their relationship and why they are the way they are really made this story even more special. Resting Witch Face is steamy and sexy and dark and bloody and it is everything I wanted for #RULES and so much more.

In Resting Witch Face, you’ll find:

✨ second chances

✨ forced proximity

✨ a powerful witch and a powerful vampire

✨ fated mates!

✨ a road trip, of sorts (they travel to loads of places)

✨ so much pining

✨ sexual tension and wild chemistry

✨ only one bed!

If you’re new to the series, I would highly recommend starting from the beginning because it’s important to know all of the things that go into the decisions that are made in each book. And if you’re up to date, then you already know that Jules and Ruben are travelling to High Guilds everywhere to convince them to welcome werewolves into the fold and to stop treating them like monsters, despite what history might say. And in order to do that, they have to spend loads of time together and fight against the attraction that’s been brewing for twelve whole years and do their jobs.

While I can’t write much without giving all of it away, I can talk about a few things. I loved the pining. Ruben does pining like no other and the way he craves Jules is definitely animalistic, but also deeply emotional. Having spent a few months falling into each other 12 years ago, the two of them have all this built up frustrations of being apart for so long, so you can just imagine how tightly wound Ruben is whenever he’s around Jules. Between the pining and Ruben being all kinds of romantic, I’m amazed it took Jules that long to give in. I was ready to throw in the towel the first time he appeared on the page. LOL

“Since the day I realized you were my whole heart, I’ve never stopped loving you. Not for one painfully paralyzing minute.”

We get so much more about the supernatural lore in this book, everything about vampires and werewolves and witches, and that was really interesting to uncover. With each book, we get a little more insight into the various supernatural species, but with two very powerful people in this one, I knew we’d be treated to something very special and we were! We also get to meet some really interesting characters and some less savoury ones that made my skin crawl, but know that every single person in this story has something to offer and that was honestly all I could ask for.

God, this book was also so hot. Juliette writes great steam and it shows the growing relationship between the leads, but this time around it was so much more amplified. Obviously fated mates and soulmates and all the other kinds of mates means that everything feels explosive. And it was. Prepare for your kindle to catch on fire, that’s all I’ll say.

I cannot wait for Clara and Henry’s story, because I love Clara so much and I have been so intrigued by those two since they first appeared on the page together!

Thanks to Juliette Cross for generously providing me with an advance copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
