I had my chance at love and I threw it away. I don’t deserve another.
I’ve dedicated my entire life to my community. There’s no time for anything else.
But then I met her. Ciara Jeffries is everything I told myself I didn’t want, but she might be everything I need. If I can just hold on to her.
Ciara
If I don’t get out of this town, I’ll lose my sanity, my loved ones, and my life. I need a fresh start, and Austin, Texas feels like as good a place as any.
I wasn’t supposed to build connections, and I definitely wasn’t supposed to fall in love.
Lincoln Cole has other plans for me. He has me breaking all my rules, and I feel safe in his arms.
But safety is a luxury I don’t have.
I thought I ran far enough, but my past will never let me go, and my recklessness may just get Lincoln burned.
I’d like to take a minute to just stand up and clap for the masterpiece that is Natasha Bishop’s debut novel. Because this book was EVERYTHING! While a steamy romantic suspense with two brilliant leads, Where We Found Our Home is about so much more than just that. It’s about giving yourself a chance to live, a chance to let people into your life no matter the struggles you’ve faced so far and being open to more in everything you do. Natasha knocked it out of the park with Ciara and Lincoln’s relationship, but also with the suspense and the tension this story builds as you keep reading.
Ciara is sort of on the run. She’s left her hometown, her mother and her friends and moves to a different city to get her life back on track. With a monster and a stalker endangering her and the ones she loves, Ciara doesn’t want to give him anymore reasons to hurt her or take away those who mean the most to her. And in this new place, she’s doing her best to keep her head down and get through each day. Except, she finds people who she connects with on a deeper level, people who make her feel so happy after such a long time. But of course, it’s the meeting of Lincoln that completely changes her life. Lincoln has given up on love. As a firefighter, he believes that no woman would want anything to do with him because of his risky job and after one woman leaves him, he’s decided that he’s not going to let himself feel that way about anyone again, because it’s clearly only going to hurt him. Then Ciara walks in, wins over his niece and his sister and Lincoln can’t turn away.
Ciara and Lincoln are FIRE. Right from the moment they meet, their chemistry is off the charts. I loved that Lincoln brings a lightness and brightness to Ciara’s life and even though she’s being aloof, it’s hard for her to ignore just what Lincoln has to offer. To him, Ciara is a beautiful puzzle he wants to piece together and the fact that he’s drawn to her constantly is not lost on him. He likes the way she makes him feel and the way he’s always happy and smiley when they’re together. But Lincoln doesn’t push, he just slowly takes steps into her life, making it hard for Ciara to ignore or refuse him. I liked that he understood her hesitations and let her lead the way, that added an extra layer to the strength of their relationship.
And it’s not just their emotional relationship that will make you happy, their physical relationship is SO HOT. The chemistry is off the charts and they know how to wind each other up. I knew this was going to be steamy, but I did not expect it to blow my mind this way. Because of how they built up their relationship, everything that follows is perfection. They connect on every level, they communicate and they do what’s best for each other. I loved their bond so deeply, I would have happily spent forever just soaking them up because of how incredible it.
Ciara and Lincoln are the main characters in this book, yes, but Lincoln’s family is just as big a part of the story. They are Ciara’s new found family and without missing a beat, they take her into their lives and they make her one of their own. I absolutely adored watching Ciara fit into Lincoln’s world, where everyone knows his history and why he’s been holding back, but they love Ciara and they want what’s best for both of them and it just so happens to be each other. Seriously, the family dynamics, the friendships, it was all so wonderful.
There’s only so much I can say about the suspense without giving everything away, but IT WAS SO GOOD. Natasha crafted a villain that will have you at the edge of your seat because they’re so twisted and complicated. You can tell just how much time and effort went into making sure that all of the stories lined up and it’s so well done. And if you’re a fan of romantic suspense, you are absolutely going to love Where We Found Our Home. I cannot wait for more of these characters and their stories, because I am so obsessed with this group of people now!
Thanks to Natasha Bishop & Foreword PR & Marketing for generously providing me with an ARC. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
