A one-night stand wouldn’t hurt, right? That’s what I told myself while I was stranded at the hotel bar in the middle of a snow storm. I thought indulging in a night of passion with the good-looking detective would be a great idea. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Apparently, seeing him again was inevitable, especially when fate kept putting him in my path.

I didn’t have time for a relationship. I had a business to run and obligations to honor. But as it turned out, resisting him required more restraint than the set of handcuffs that brought us together in the first place.

I convinced myself that it was the perfect arrangement. He wasn’t looking for a commitment and I wasn’t in a position to give him one. That was already promised to someone else.

We might have agreed to keep things simple, but sometimes rules are destined to be broken.

He told me he would give me Whatever I Need. How can I bring myself to tell him what I need is for him to let me go?

This is my first S. Jones book and I have to say that I was completely taken in by Marco and Amelia. Their banter, chemistry and relationship are all so wonderfully portrayed in this book.

In an absolutely hilarious meet-cute, Amelia and Marco are brought together by a pair of handcuffs and its rogue keys. She’s looking for fun with the wrong guy and Marco just happens to be the first available cop to come and help her out of her jam. But that first meeting propels them into something that keeps bringing them back together. Right off the bat, their chemistry is undeniable. I love how much they’re drawn to each other even though they know they shouldn’t be. And if that’s not enough, Amelia’s got familial expectations getting in the way of her ever pursuing anything with Marco, no matter how badly she wants to ignore everything else around her.

Whatever You Need combines romantic comedy with romantic suspense and a whole heap of so much more. It keeps you hooked with the interesting twists and turns and life choices these two characters must make. Neither of them are looking for forever and obviously at the one time they don’t want something, that’s exactly what falls into their laps. Amelia and Marco have sizzling chemistry and a draw to each other that just keeps them coming back for more.

“The sexual tension between us was as clear as the crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. I wanted her, and I wasn’t going to pretend that I didn’t.”

Amelia’s a businesswoman with a promise to keep and she doesn’t have time for dalliances and romances, which is why one night stands work. Marco is too busy chasing down leads and healing from a betrayal and a broken heart to care about romance. But that’s exactly when the universe is going to surprise you with something, right? And Amelia has obligations that she committed to long before Marco came along and I hoped that she would set them aside to focus on her new relationship, but she didn’t and that was something that really bothered me about the book. There’s lying by omission, but it’s not cheating, it’s just…complicated. I found that irked me a little, because I kept hoping that Amelia would come clean with Marco and tell him the truth about her life and her business since she cares about him so much.

I gotta admit though, Marco’s grandmother was the highlight of this book. She’s part of the reason that these two get together and I loved how without meddling too much, she managed to make them work. Of course there are all the other characters, some you’ll really like and some you want to punch in the face – but all of them bring together something special in the book.

“I may be his on a piece of paper, but everything I have to give belongs to you.”

Altogether, Whatever You Need is a quick read that delivers everything. You will come away feeling pretty satisfied with how the book ends and some of the decisions and journeys the characters go on.

Thanks to S. Jones and Valentine PR for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
