Synopsis: Don’t fall for your roommate…especially when he’s your best friend.
Cooper Bennett is my best friend.
That’s all he is and all he ever will be.
Nothing will change that.
Accidentally seeing him naked? Please. So not a big deal.
Having less-than-tame thoughts? I mean, have you seen this guy? Who could blame me?
Kissing him? It was a one-time mistake, and it will not be repeated.
Falling into bed with him? Uh-oh…
It’s fine. We’re fine.
We’re Caroline and Cooper. Best friends until the end. Nothing has ever come our way that we couldn’t survive together.
Surely, we can handle this too…
Review: I honestly didn’t think it was possible for anybody to get hotter than River and Dean, but then Teagan went and wrote about Caroline and Cooper. And phew *fans self* they are so hot, distracting and incredibly addictive. And it’s got some of my favourite tropes packed into this book, which makes the second in the Roommate Romps absolutely fantastic.
“She was like sunshine, and I was drawn to her warmth. I wanted to keep it forever.”
Caroline and Cooper have known each other for most of their lives. They grew up as neighbours and became best friends, helped each other through the good and the bad times and know literally everything about each other. After college, they decided to move in together and now share an apartment and a good life and nothing can change that. Or so they think.
One naked encounter leads them down a path they can’t come back from and it’s hilarious to watch them both try to avoid these feelings niggling in the back of their mind. And when I say naked, I mean…Caroline accidentally gets all up in Cooper’s business and for days on end, it’s all they can think about. And it definitely doesn’t help that Cooper has volunteered to help Caroline get laid when all he wants to do is be the one that makes that happen for her.
“Kissing Caroline is like a drug, and I don’t think I ever want to come down from this high.”
When you’ve been friends for that long, it’s inevitable that everything will shift really fast, but actually going through the motions of understanding what’s happening and seeing that change happen for Caroline and Cooper makes it so damn special. It’s all the little things that make them both realise that these feelings they’re playing with are not new. They’ve been there for a while, they just got really good at hiding them or ignoring them for years. Because when you only have each other, you hold on with all your might!
Their relationship is adorable. And as is the case with all Teagan Hunter epic friendships, Caroline and Cooper have this incredible bond that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. They are so well matched as friends that it’s no surprise that they move from that to more. And oh god, brace yourself for the steam. Guys, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Teagan Hunter writes GREAT SEX. Caroline and Cooper have so much sexual chemistry that every time they strip down naked, you will need a fan to cool yourself down. And it happens a lot and it’s always so damn distracting.
“The only thing I regret is not realizing sooner how good it feels to be with her like this. Not just the sex—which is incredible—but everything else. The looks. The simple touches. The feeling of being intimate without actually being intimate. I didn’t realize I was missing that until now.”
Beyond that, you’ve got another Teagan Hunter special – the other friends. Caroline’s got River and Maya while Cooper’s got Dean; and those friendships are so cute and vital too. I know it’s a series and they’re all going to keep showing up here and there, but still, it’s truly very special.
Love Thy Neighbor has Teagan Hunter’s brand of humour, quirky characters, strong bonds of friendship, beautiful relationships and a whole lot of incredibly well written, beautifully crafted and very hot steam. Whatever you’re doing, stop it, because this book needs to go on your list right away!
