Review: I gotta say, I hate that I haven’t read the five books before this one, because the character dynamics and the other couples are all so fantastic. Plus, I feel like seeing a different side of Kiernan before Caroline walks into his life would be a treat. But now that I’ve devoured this book, I know for certain that I’m going to be reading the rest of the series, one book at a time. Emma Renshaw left me breathless through this whole book and I am forever grateful to her magic for existing in the same world that I do.
Books with badass leads are always a win, but when you add a dog with the best personality into the mix, the book just becomes that much more epic. And with Vow of Worth, Emma Renshaw delivers all of that and so much more. It was such an entertaining read, but at the same time, so hot and steamy and stressful! I know nobody wants to read a book that is considered stressful, but guys, it’s a romantic suspense, it’s meant to be stressful!
“Under his gaze, I felt like I was truly myself. The one I saw in the mirror when I didn’t allow the other voices to sink in.”
Kiernan adopts Pepper Jack and when the dog starts to give him hell and he can’t control him anymore, Kiernan decides to take him to the vet. The vet also happens to have the best canine training programme in the state, so obviously that’s where Kiernan has to go. Except, this vet is Caroline and she knows who he is. Even if Kiernan has no idea who she is. Caroline is a beautiful, confident and really good vet, but she’s also someone who has been treated badly by her family and made to feel like she wasn’t worth it because she wasn’t perfect by their standards. So when she walks into an examination room one day and finds the object of her high school affections standing there, it’s full blown panic mode. And then it’s made even worse when he doesn’t know who she is. But Kiernan isn’t a man easily deterred, so he’s going to do whatever it takes to get Caroline to train Pepper Jack while also trying to win her over at the same time.
There’s all this nonsense with her family that Caroline has to deal with and if that’s not enough, she’s got a stalker. And he’s not letting Caroline live a peaceful life. Sure, all his antics has her ending up in Kiernan’s arms, but for her, that’s still not fun at all. But Kiernan won’t let anything happen to her and he will go through whatever and as far as he has to to protect her. But seriously, her family is worse than the stalker. And when you witness it, you’ll most definitely agree with me.
“It was the kiss. It wasn’t two people pressing their lips together. It was all-consuming and passionate. Life changing. Nothing else mattered except for his lips and tongue. And his hands, roaming over my body.”
I’m a new fan of romantic suspenses, but I gotta say, this book totally had me at the edge of my seat. Knowing that Kiernan and his friends can solve this comforts you to an extent, but it also really stresses you out. Emma Renshaw keeps you hooked right from the moment you meet Pepper Jack to the moment when everything starts to make sense in the world. The characters are incredible and I love that Caroline’s a plus-sized character, even if she’s been beaten down by her parents. More than anything, watching Caroline and Kiernan fall in love is just something that you will absolutely adore. And Kiernan’s group of friends are the best. Seeing all these men and their respective awesome women just rounded up this book nicely.
Thanks to Emma Renshaw and Valentine PR for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
